My Life, My Life - The Update

Normally, I would be dancing and singing “My Life” by Mary J. Blige; trying to imitate her dancing style. However, we all know that no one can do it like Mary. Lol. This has always been one of my favorite songs. As a blogger, I have to share my experiences with the world, but realistically, I’m very private and my life is the one thing that I choose to only share with close friends and family. Not sure where this sense of privacy came from, but it has been around for a while. It may be the stigma that a plus-sized woman living in this crazy world should merely exist and not truly live. Who knows? Now, I realize that I’m so much more than my exterior. I am so happy to have grown as a woman, sister, daughter, and educator.
It’s just funny how life throws things at us. Nowadays, I am walking about the house singing “Share My World”. My tune has changed. Funny how someone’s life like Mary J Blige can also be a true reflection of self. Of course, the nature of her lyrics are different than mine, but the path to self-care and self-love is clear.

I love being a part of the plus-size community and contributing in the little way that I have in the past 4 years. Being apart of this community has taught me how important it is to “Share My World” with others. This journey of mine is not mine, it’s for every woman who has been diagnosed with Diabetes and do not know the how, when, where, or why. Hopefully, some of the lessons I have learned can be helpful to you or a loved one as well.
  1. Trust the process
  2. Set a small goal for yourself that is attainable
  3. Encourage yourself through the process
  4. Do not diet. Make a lifestyle change
  5. Get Active

These 5 lessons has been a lifesaver in the past 7 months. Now, I can proudly state that my A1C levels are lower,I am currently pre-diabetic. I am 50 pounds lighter on my feet and most importantly, I am now off of the medication. This journey is not over, by far, but setting goals can always assist you in your life’s journey.

Ladies, hopefully, sharing “My world” and being transparent can touch one of you. If I can be of any assistance, please reach out. I would love to help. Until next time, stay blessed and beautiful.
