It’s official. February is here. Every year in February I get bothered by all of the superficial things that relates to Valentine’s Day. In case you are wondering, I HATE VALENTINE’S DAY! Yes, I said I hate Valentine’s Day. Ok wait. Let me explain. As a young girl, my grandfather was always my valentine. Every year for Valentine’s Day, he would purchase a box of Turtles for all the women in the family. As children, we would get the small heart shaped box until we graduated. It wasn't until we graduated when we received the full size box. Unfortunately, I didn’t get too many turtles. I miss my old man. So in my heart, Valentine’s Day is always reserved for him.

As an adult, I do not celebrate Valentine Day, but I am all for a GALENTINE event. I love events where women came together to share love and experiences with each other. I live for the Galentine event as it is filled with girly decor, drinks, food, and fun. Creating a sisterhood of loved ones is so magical. Every walk of life coming together to share their knowledge with the next person. The best feeling of Galentine's is walking away with a new perspective and insight on life.
Surrounding yourself with like minded women who are on a path to success can elevate you to your platform. One of the lessons learned by surrounding myself around these beautiful women is that I am not alone on this journey. No matter what space you are in, there is another woman with a similar path that may need a support buddy.
As we prepare for our Galentine, here are a few tips:
- Hand write a personal card to each lady that will empower and uplift them with love.
- Bring Props to take selfies (Oh! The memories)
- Create survival kits for the ladies (Mine would be wine, candles, nail polish, and a playlist)
If you have a phenomenal group of women, create your own Galentine to show your circle that you love each and every one of them. Well Ladies, I have to run. Time to get ready to celebrate. One more thing, Will you be my Galentine?
