Sporty Spice Chic

So last month when I was packing for NYC, I realized that I needed fashionable looks that would take me from day to night. The goal is to always slay, but I did not want to sacrifice comfort while I was out and about in the city. Anytime I see Athleisure pieces, I am reminded of high school when the Spice Girls hit the music scene. Yes, I know. I am truly telling my age. I loved the Spice Girls as each one of them showcased a characteristic that lives within my style, but for this trip, I had major inspiration from Sporty Spice.

The navy and white stripes of The Raglan Sleeve Tee was the inspiration behind the look. Funny thing is, the Raglan Sleeve Tee screamed for some Stan Smith’s. Yes, My Adidas… Stan Smith. (Don’t ask what happened to them, ask Hurricane Harvey what happened to them...lol)
With my vision, I was searching for the perfect bottom. I wanted something sporty chic that would speak with the sporty spice in me. Nothing state chic more than a good ol’ pencil skirt. The neoprene Pencil Skirt in the Duece Court was the perfect match. To finish off the look, I paired the look with INC Sammee Slip-On Sneakers and the Ratingen earring from Aldo in red.

Athleisure- the trend that people thought would only last one season, has now become a mainstay that just continues to evolve. What is even more exciting about the athleisure trend is how it is impacted the plus size community. Brands like Torrid, Fashion to Figure, Lane Bryant, and Ashley Stewart have been on board for the trend and I'm loving it.

Brands like Target and Eloquii are taking the athleisure trends and creating statement pieces. Who What Wear debuted the wide leg track pants  and the silky track skirt (now at Target).

Eloquii debuted an entire collection inspired by athleisure wear. Check out the Changing the Game collection. Below are more athleisure inspired pieces from Eloquii.

Ladies, what are your thoughts? Do you enjoy the athleisure trend? What are some of your favorite athleisure pieces?
