Summer Essentials - Lemonade

As a Southern girl, I look forward to fish fries, sitting outside drinking lemonade and eating watermelon.  This is a true sign that Summer is here.  While indulging in the summertime rituals, we have to make sure that we are dressed comfortably to endure that Summer heat.

When I traveled to Atlanta in May, I had the chance to visit my first Fashion to Figure store. (FTF needs to come further south) Upon browsing the store, a bright yellow dress caught my attention.  My first thought was, “I love this color and is perfect for Summer”. As I ogled the dress, I noticed the drape front and extreme back. My infatuation of this dress was changing by the second. I thought, “There was no way that my chest could fit in this drape dress with my back rolls hanging out!”  All of these thoughts started running through my head as I was talking myself out of this dress.  To my surprise, when I tried on the Ophelia Draped Halter Dress, I was immediately crushing on myself. The vibrant color is so eye-catching and is so me. Not to mention, the way the drapes fell across my chest.  Due to the banded middle section,  it instantly gave me the defined waist that I was meant to have.

Styling this dress could be so much fun.

1. For a casual look, you could pair the Ophelia with your favorite flat sandal and hoop earrings to don at a Summer cookout.
2. For a date night look, you could add a delicate necklace with a color-contrasting heeled sandal. Try a printed sandal to add some flare.
3. For an eclectic look, you could add a sleeveless denim vest or a printed kimono with a Panama hat. Depending on your style, you could pair this look with a two-piece sandal, an ankle flat, wedge, or even a platformed block heel sandal.

For this look, I choose option 2 to style the Ophelia Draped halter dress. I added a delicate necklace with a color-contrasting heeled sandal. My accessories of choice were a gold necklace with 3 rhinestone flowers,  rhinestone bracelet, watch,  and simple gold hoop earrings. A contrasting floral ankle strap sandal and coordinating clutch to complete the look.

Ladies, I encourage you to try out one of the styling options with a vibrant color dress this summer. Until next time, enjoy this Southern Sample.
